Welcome
WELCOME
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Steering Committee and the Local Organizing Committees of EIMR 2024, we extend a very warm, Scottish welcome to you from this, the 7th Environmental Interactions of Marine Renewables Conference.
The conference takes place in-person (and online) from 15-19 April 2024 at the Pickaquoy Centre (locally known as ‘the Picky’) in Kirkwall, Orkney, Scotland. The Picky is a first-class multi-use centre, which has hosted world class arts festivals, music events, exhibitions, conferences, and sports competitions www.pickaquoy.co.uk
This event will bring together marine renewable energy experts from across the globe. It will represent all disciplines that form the landscape of marine energy research, a foundation that continues to stimulate new and exciting discoveries.
The heart of the conference is the sharing of new ideas and insights into the interactions between marine renewable energy and the environment (in the broadest sense of the word), a field which continues to grow from strength to strength.
With growth comes inevitable conflict, and the theme of this conference is balance; balance between ecosystem effects and reducing carbon-emissions, balance between societal impacts and economic growth, balance between national goals and resilient coastal communities.
We are excited about the rich opportunities that the conference will provide for dialogue, interaction, and communication between delegates.
Come and share in the conversation.
Welcome!
